Citizens of Rexburg are turning into zombies, and your only hope of survival is the vaccine at Hemming Village. If you want to survive, you must run.
The annual Zombie Chase Race is taking over Rexburg October 15, and everyone is invited to participate.
“The Zombie Chase Race is a 5K obstacle course race,” according to the event’s website.”As a survivor you will run the course, maneuvering through all of the obstacles and dodging zombies while protecting your three flags (your lives).”
The 2016 Zombie Chase Race begins at the Nature Park and ends at Hemming Village, and in addition to avoiding zombies, each racer must complete 13 obstacles during the 3.1-mile race, according to the event's website.
Those interested in participating may do so in one of three categories: survivor, zombie or zombie runner.
Survivors are those trying to avoid the zombies.
“You will navigate through obstacles and dodge zombies as you run through the 5K trying to survive long enough to make it to Hemming Village to receive the vaccine,” according to the event’s website.
Zombies, on the other hand, are hungry, and they will do anything to stop the runners.
“We hope that your hunger for brains is growling in your decomposed stomach, because soon there will be hundreds of survivors running your way,” according to the event’s website.
Those participating as zombies are those trying to remove the survivor’s flags (lives) and knock them out of the race. Zombie runners will also chase the survivors throughout the course; however, they are not allowed to remove the survivor’s flags.

After the race, there will be a block party at Hemming Village to celebrate the survivors who survived the zombies, according to the event’s website.
