Description
As the temperature rises, take the time to sample some of the finest ice creams and milkshakes in the Yellowstone Teton Territory. Satisfy your sweet tooth with huckleberry ice cream, world famous shakes, and other beloved dairy delights at these favorite regional stops.
Victor Emporium, Victor
Every summer, Victor Emporium rounds up as many locally grown huckleberries as they can find for their signature “World-Famous Huckleberry Shakes.” They blend the berries with Farr’s ice cream to serve up delicious, creamy shakes. The old fashioned soda fountain also features a full array of ice cream flavors to whip up milkshakes, malts, and more, in addition to a fun variety shop where people can find everything from fishing licenses and gear to souvenirs. On the Fourth of July in 2019, the tiny shop served up 927 milkshakes—breaking their previous record.
Driggs Corner Drug, Driggs
In Driggs, you can pick up your prescription along with a “Fresh Lime Freeze.” The Driggs Corner Drug pharmacy features a soda fountain serving up a variety of milkshakes, including huckleberry—which is offered year-round—and its signature lime freeze, which is only available in the summer.
Rainey Creek Country Store, Swan Valley
In Swan Valley, an unassuming gas station is the home of Rainey Creek Country Store which is famous for its square ice cream. Using Farr’s ice cream out of Idaho Falls, the shop serves huge crowds in the summer, dishing up nearly endless servings of square ice cream during peak season. Huckleberry is one of the most popular flavors.
Reed’s Dairy, Idaho Falls & Ammon
Idaho Falls-based Reed’s Dairy, established in 1962, is a longtime local favorite for milk, cheese, and small-batch handcrafted ice cream. The family business—four generations and counting—maintains its own herd of Holstein cows, and even offers home delivery in Idaho Falls and Treasure Valley. The company also ships its products—from cheese curds to chocolate milk to egg nog—all over the country. Stop by the Idaho Falls and Ammon locations to pick up delicious dairy products and enter fun contests like guessing how many pieces of candy are in a jar for a chance at winning a year’s worth of ice cream.
G’s Dairy Delights, Rexburg
Scooping up over 30 flavors of homemade ice cream, G’s Dairy Delights is one of Rexburg’s best spots for ice cream. Enjoy one of the staple flavors like monster cookie, PB Cup, Huckleberry, German Chocolate, or Mom’s Masterpiece (chocolate ice cream with marshmallow swirl, PB cups, and Oreos), or check out the rotating flavor menu. Also enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches and other tasty treats.
FrosTop Old Fashioned Drive-in, Ashton
Since 1965, locals and visitors alike have stopped at Ashton’s FrosTop to enjoy huckleberry shakes, banana splits, root beer floats, and “monster sundaes” with salted caramel cookie or a fudge brownie, among other treat options. Enjoy the FroStop spice potato, onion rings, cheese curds, breaded pickle spears alongside an assortment of burgers and fish and chicken sandwiches on the menu.
