For travel to Eastern Idaho's Yellowstone Teton Territory, we offer the following information and resources. There are five gateways by road into Eastern Idaho: via Idaho Falls, Spencer, Island Park, Teton/Driggs, and Swan Valley. Click on a specific town below to learn more about these gateways.
Two major Interstates lead to Eastern Idaho:
- Running north to south. Interstate I-15 extends from Butte, Montana to Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Approaching from the west, I-84 from Portland, Oregon meets I-15 at Pocatello, Idaho, just under an hour from Idaho Falls.
The major airport for the Yellowstone Teton Territory is Idaho Falls Regional Airport. To learn more about the Idaho Falls airport, click the Idaho Falls tab below. There are other small airports located throughout Eastern Idaho. Click a city or town for additional airport information.

The Idaho Falls gateway is accessed via two highways; U.S. Highway 20 from the west (Sun Valley, Arco) and Interstate 15 from the south (Salt Lake City, Pocatello).
Driving Directions
- From Arco, take Highway 20 east about 65 miles to Idaho Falls.
- From Salt Lake City, take I-15 north about 200 miles through Pocatello to Idaho Falls

The Spencer portal is accessed from Interstate Highway 15 from Butte, MT.
Driving Directions:
- From Butte, take Interstate 15 south approximately 140 miles to the Idaho state line.
The Island Park portal is just south of West Yellowstone, MT and is accessible from U.S. Highway 20 or Idaho State Hwy 87 from Ennis, MT.

- From West Yellowstone, Montana, take Highway 20 south 10 miles to the Idaho state line.
- From Ennis, Montana, take Highway 287/87 east 35 miles to the Idaho state line.

The Victor-Driggs portal to the territory is located 25 miles west of Jackson, Wyoming on Wyoming Highway 22.
Driving Directions
- From Jackson, drive west on Highway 22, crossing over the Teton Pass, which turns into Highway 33, to the Idaho state line.
- From the Wyoming state line Victor is 5 miles and Driggs is 13 miles.

The Swan Valley portal is accessible from U.S. Highway 26 from Alpine, Wyoming.
Driving Directions
- From Alpine, Wyoming take Highway 26 west to the Idaho state line. Swan Valley is 30 miles from the border.
- From Idaho Falls drive east on Hwy 26 (about 45 miles).
- From the Jackson/Driggs/Teton/Victor area come down Hwy 31 (about 22 miles from Victor).

Winter Travel Information
PLOWED ROADS All highways into Eastern Idaho are plowed regularly in the winter. They are often snowpacked and snow tires are recommended and sometimes required, especially over Teton and other mountain passes.
