The trail is an easy ride with some wonderful views of Sawtell Peak to the West and Two Top to the East. The trail winds along the foot hills beneath Sawtell Peak, through stands of pine trees and meadows. There are regular opportunities see the peaks. On top of Sawtell Peak is a large radar installation located in a large dome that is usually visible. There is a road to the top that is accessible in the summer. A great place to start your journey on the Sawtell Loop is from Island Park Village. Island Park Village is located on Highway 20, north of Ashton, Last Chance, Ponds Lodge, and Mack's Inn and south of Henry's lake and West Yellowstone, Montana. Here you will find all the services you need including fuel, machine and equipment rentals, convenience store, and overnight accommodations. These facilities are open all year round.
