Eastern Idaho is home to some of the best skiing in the world! And two fantastic Idaho ski resorts are located in the Yellowstone Teton Territory.

Kelly Canyon Ski Area, located about half an hour from Idaho Falls, is where the locals go for day and night skiing. Kelly boasts four lifts with access to 26 ski runs and a new 600-foot tubing park for families and groups. The ski lodge features a rental shop, cafeteria, and banquet and private rooms for events.

The famous Grand Targhee Ski Resort, also located nearby in the Targhee National Forest, offers 63 trails covering over 3000 acres of alpine skiing, night skiing, heli-skiing, snow-cat skiing, cross country skiing, snow tubing and snowboarding. Grand Targhee is famous for their powdery natural "snow from heaven".

Ski school packages are offered, and family groups are welcomed. A 600 foot tubing park offers even more for families and groups. Kelly Canyon boasts 4 lifts, 26 runs, and 740 skiable acres.

Kelly Canyon offers great recreational activities for all ages with over 740 acres of skiable area and 26 ski trails. It offers an entire mountain of challenging trails, wide runs and accessible terrain. The longest run is 6,900 feet. Certified instructors are available to teach all ability levels in group or private lessons. Snowboard and skiing classes are also offered during the Christmas holidays and weekends in January. A new 600 foot tubing park is also available for families and groups. Kelly Canyon offers alpine and night skiing with major runs lit six nights a week. They have 1 rope tow and 4 double chair lifts. Their uphill lift capacity is 2,100 per hour. The top elevation is 6,600 feet and base elevation 5,600 feet making a vertical drop of 1,000 feet of exciting skiing. Ski trails are rated "Easiest, “More Difficult," and "Most Difficult," so there is something for everyone. The annual snowfall is 100 inches. Services include a rental shop, cafeteria, banquet and private rooms. Buses are provided Saturdays and holidays from area communities. It is easily accessible from Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Rigby and other outlying areas.

Grand Targhee offers 3000 acres of ski and snowboard terrain, 500 of these acres were just opened for the 2001-2002 season with the addition of Sacajawea high speed quad chairlift on Peaked Mountain. Grand Targhee also reserves additional acres for your snow cat skiing adventure! Many additional activities are available at Grand Targhee: a full service resort, including Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, restaurants, retail shops, and bar. It is located only 50 miles from Rexburg.

Grand Targhee is located on the Caribou/Targhee National Forest east of Driggs, Idaho. The mountain rises to about 10,200 ft. at the top and a base elevation of 8,000 ft. giving a 2,200 ft. vertical drop of exciting skiing thrills. Targhee offers skiers 2 mountains totaling 3000 acres. 1,500 acres are served by lifts offering wide groomed trails and skiable powder. There are a total of four lifts: 1 Magic Carpet, 1 double chair, 1 quad chair and 1 hi-speed quad. The uphill lift capacity is 7,200 per hour. There are 63 trails. The longest run is 14,675 ft. The second mountain offers 1500 acres, (2,800 ft. vertical drop) reserved exclusively for powder snow cat skiing. Grand Targhee offers alpine skiing, night skiing, heli-skiing, snow cat skiing, cross country, snow tubing and snow boarding. Grand Targhee also offers: group lessons, mountain workshops, mountain guide programs, and snowboard programs. Other exciting activities include learning to ski Grand Targhee's legendary deep powder, exploring new areas, learning to snowboard, enjoying a Peaked Snow Cat Powder Adventure, playing on a new snow toy, becoming an all conditions slider, participating in Snow Sports School with people of your own age or skill level, skating or classic skiing on groomed cross country track, trying telemark skiing, and special women and children's programs.

Located just south of the City of  Pocatello, in the Caribou National Forest, Pebble Creek boasts virtually non-existent lift lines. The 40 member PSIA/AASI Member Ski & Snowboard School offers a wide range of group programs as well as private lessons.
